Potential Patreon
calm, purple me
rix_scaedu
I am considering putting myself on Patreon as a creator and I'm trying to get some idea of what people would be interested in seeing from me in response to pledges.

I am asking the following questions on the understanding that Nai will not be locked content but my wind up as an ebook. Or series of ebooks - I can dream.

Please answer these questions in the comments and thank you for your participation:

1. Would you expect Patreon exclusive content?

2. Would you like Patreon exclusive content?

3. Would you prefer monthly or per item pledges - assuming a maximum limit on the number of items per month?

4. What sort of items would you like to see from me?

5. I currently post on LJ. Becoming a Patreon creator would probably involve me posting there. Is there anywhere else you think I should post e.g. own website, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, etc.

Thank you again for your participation.

My initial thought was to respond with "Take my money!", but that seemed unhelpful. So, in more detailed answers:

1. Would you expect Patreon exclusive content?

Not particularly? Two of the creators I support don't do anything of the sort, and I'm OK with that.

2. Would you like Patreon exclusive content?

I'm torn on this. The exclusivity vs. the difficulty of sharing stuff. Um. Handwaving and/or flailing as appropriate?

3. Would you prefer monthly or per item pledges - assuming a maximum limit on the number of items per month?

I'm fine with either one. I will note that Patreon lets patrons separately limit the per-item count per month if they want. That said, only one of the creators I support works on the per-item method.

4. What sort of items would you like to see from me?

Keep doing what you're doing!

5. I currently post on LJ. Becoming a Patreon creator would probably involve me posting there. Is there anywhere else you think I should post e.g. own website, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, etc.

One of the creators I support posts almost nothing on Patreon. Another posts links to their primary blog. (These are the two who don't do exclusive content.)

I'm shifting more toward DW with the move of LJ's servers into Russia, so I'd encourage posting on DW. That said, I'll keep reading both until something (more) dire happens on the LJ side.

Thank you for your participation.
